"Living Combs" is a modular living concept targetting the current housing shortage. Since this subject is more relevant than ever all over the world, the system is adjustable to nearly every location and landscape topography.

Since space is a scarcity, the basic module contains the minimal space for one person as well as the basic needs of living: sleeping, washing, cooking, living and working. Thus the shape of a hexagon is perfect: Five sides for basic needs and one for an entrance.

For a rapid production and build-up, nearly every aspect can be prefabricated and composed together on site within minutes. For a faster transport one half hexagon is perfectly sized for fitting on the bed of a small truck. The surrounding framework consists of former scaffolding parts, welded together triangularly to enable a rigid construction for a growing system in the x-, y- and z-axis.

Moreover, the hexagons offer endless options for creating space with different requirements. Besides being able to connect them horizontally, they can be stacked upon each other while having a connection within. Therefore, big agglomerations of modules can be created, offering co-living, co-working, working and restaurant spaces, as well as common platforms to meet or eat outside.

The basic framework of one module is made out of steel, while most of the other parts are made out of wood, thereby encouraging sustainability. Thus, the wooden facades can be used for plants, supporting the aspect of vertical gardening as well as urban farming, reinforcing the sense of a community.
